Strange Frame: Love & Sax (2009)

It’s the 29th century. We're on Ganymede, one of Jupiter’s moons. The human race has long since left a decimated Earth. To survive the harsh climates of other planets and moons, humans have genetically modified themselves making skin color and sexual organs a common matter of fashion.

Two beautiful musicians, Parker, a soulful saxophonist, and Naia, an impish guitarist, play center stage. They move almost as one, a seamless harmony developed over the years from the bonding and sharing in their struggle to get just this far in their careers.

Unfortunately, fame is about to tear them apart.

This is the last gig they will ever play together.

A spaced-out animated flick with Moebius and Pink Floyd! You’d think it’s the ‘Seventies again!

Info on this Hawaiian-made (!) full-length animated feature is frustratingly scarce to come by, but we do know the following:

(a) Actor Jason Scott Lee will be lending his voice talents to it. Lee has previously done voice work for the various Lilo & Stitch movies and TV episodes. According to an official press release this 42-year old actor has amazingly starred in more than 20 features thus far, including Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story, Timecop, Jungle Book, and Map of the Human Heart!

(b) Legendary French comic book artist Jean "Moebius" Giraud is somehow involved with the project, which would explain the whole Heavy Metal vibe! (Heavy Metal as in not the music, but the comics, which in turn inspired the two Heavy Metal movies made thus far.)

(c) Strange Frame will feature a song from Pink Floyd. Unfortunately it isn’t a new song, but The Gunner’s Dream, taken from their depressing 1983 album about Thatcherism and Roger Waters’ divorce, The Final Cut. You know, the song in which Waters really really sounds like John Lennon . . .

So what does all this mean? We dunno. But it all sounds weird enough to want to check out when it gets released in the States in November of 2009!
